The IS215VCMIH2BB is a VCMI (VME Communications Interface) board for the GE Speedtronic Mark VI turbine control platform. Backplane, IONet, and the VCMI's Job
Two separate networks meet at the VCMI. Internally, it talks to every other board in the rack over the VME backplane. Externally, it uses IONet, a 10Base2 coax network, to reach the protection module and, in a triple-redundant system, the VCMI boards on the other two channels. The H2 design puts three IONet ports on one card so a single VCMI can serve all three <R>/<S>/<T> channels where the system is built that way; the H1 design has just one port for simplex use.

- GE TIL-1905 documents an oxidized-socket IONet transceiver chip issue on VCMI boards (H1B, H1C, H2B, H2C) manufactured between May 2006 and February 2009.
- RF interference, poor grounding, corrosive atmosphere, and cabinet condensation are all documented, non-board sources of intermittent alarms.
Cleaning and reseating the card, and checking rack power (5V/15V rails), has resolved persistent alarms in documented cases without a board swap.
