DS200SLCCG4ACC: The Later-Generation SLCC
DS200SLCCG4ACC is a G4-group SLCC – GE's LAN Communication Card for the Speedtronic Mark V turbine control system, also used in EX2000 excitation cabinets. Like every SLCC, its job is to process and filter incoming LAN communication signals through a mix of isolated and non-isolated circuits, centered on a LAN Control Processor (LCP, U1) with software held in replaceable EPROM memory and dedicated RAM for LCP operation. A dual-ported RAM interface lets the LCP exchange data with the drive control processor on the companion SDCC card, and an attachable alphanumeric keypad/display module supports on-card diagnostics and fault-code readout.
This card sits in the Mark V's <C> (communication) core, connecting to the NTB/3TB, SDCC, TCCB, and DCFB boards through a 2PL connector. What actually distinguishes the G4 group is confirmed and specific: G4-group SLCC boards do not include DLAN or ARCNET network adaptation circuitry, unlike the earlier G1 and G2 groups, which carried that hardware. Some sites use a G4 SLCC as a planned upgrade path away from an older, obsolete 531X306LCC-style board from GE's earlier Speedtronic generations.
Diagnose Before You Buy: The SLCC Is Frequently Not the Fault
Symptoms that look exactly like a failed SLCC – a frozen operator display, data that stops updating – are some of the most commonly misdiagnosed faults on a Mark V panel, regardless of which SLCC group is installed. A well-documented case describes an operator interface that stopped refreshing live data; the site replaced every card in the <C> core, including the SLCC, TCCA, SDCC, and TCDA, plus the TCPS power supply, and the fault persisted. What eventually mattered:
-
Power supply voltages at the <R> and <C> test points, checked against the Mark V Maintenance Manual (GEH-5980) limits
-
The BOI (backup operator interface), which talks to <R> directly without routing through <C>
-
Connector corrosion or a broken cable conductor, checked before condemning a card
-
The TCQC card in <R> and the ARCPL cable connecting it to the <C> core's SLCC – a fault here reproduces the same symptoms as a bad SLCC
It also helps to know that a processor core only reaches I/O status A7 once every card inside it individually reaches A6, so before you condemn this card, check which specific card in the <C> core is actually the holdout.
What G4ACC Tells You
DS200 is the Mark V-era board series prefix, SLCC is the LAN Communication Card acronym, G4 is the product grouping confirmed to exclude DLAN and ARCNET circuitry, and ACC is this unit's specific functional and artwork revision combination. Because the G4 group is a genuine hardware departure from G1/G2, don't substitute a G4 for an earlier group (or vice versa) without checking that your panel's communication scheme matches – match the complete part number to your documentation and to the card being replaced.
Related Boards and the Broader Platform
Inside the <C> core, the SLCC shares its rack with TCCA, SDCC, IOMA, and TCDA, and links back to <R> through the TCQC card. If your site is looking at a longer-term platform change, GE's Mark VI system replaced the DS200 series with IS200-series boards and a different communications architecture; see our Mark V vs Mark VI: DS200 to IS200 guide.
