In other words, a drive or exciter that keeps resetting on its own can be telling you about the DCFB's power supply, not a fault in the drive control card's logic. Read the DCFB's own fuse indicators. LEDs CR51 and CR55 flag a blown FU2 or FU3 (the 7 A power-output fuses); a neon lamp at LT1 flags a blown FU1 (the 1/2 A fuse on the 115 VAC fan output).

Measure the +5 V and ±24 V rails reaching the SDCC/LDCC before condemning that card's logic.

Treat a repeat failure in the same slot as a wiring problem until proven otherwise. Experienced Mark V/EX2000 technicians consistently report that when the same card position fails again and again, it's much more often a field device, wiring, voltage, or current issue downstream than a run of bad boards.

Consider the companion card, not just the DCFB. There are documented cases where a DCFB and its companion LDCC card both kept failing, and the actual root cause turned out to be a failing capacitor on the LDCC, not the DCFB. Since GE never published full schematics for this card generation, a specialized repair shop with card-level test equipment is often the fastest way to pin down which board is genuinely at fault.
