IS215UCVEH2A: A Single-Slot VME Controller Card for Mark VI
Built on a VMIC VME single-board computer, the IS215UCVEH2A carries the Mark VI turbine control application on one card that plugs into the controller rack alongside the VCMI communication board. It is GE's standard Mark VI main controller, and this listing is a used, tested example at the H2AF revision.
Inside the VME Architecture
The UCVE hosts the control signal database (CSDB) and executes the application under QNX on a 300 MHz Intel Celeron with 32 MB of DRAM. External data transfer — process inputs and outputs in a simplex system, or voted inputs and computed outputs in a TMR system — travels across the VME backplane bus through the VCMI communication board, and the controller synchronizes to the VCMI's clock. A single 10BaseT/100BaseTX RJ-45 Ethernet port ties the controller to the Unit Data Highway. Because the whole controller lives on one card, seating and backplane condition are as important to its operation as the processor itself.
Symptoms That Mimic a Failed UCVE
The card's central role makes it the default suspect for almost any Mark VI fault, which is exactly why careful isolation pays off. Before replacing it, verify:

Configuration and boot media. The controller validates its toolbox configuration against the hardware at every power-up. A mismatched or partially downloaded application, or corrupt flash, will fault a good board — reload before you condemn.

The VCMI path. Since the UCVE reaches I/O only through the VCMI across the VME bus, a VCMI or backplane fault presents as a controller problem. Check the VCMI and the card seating.

Power integrity. A drooping +5 V rack rail resets the processor; confirm the supply before assuming hardware failure.

Upstream reporting from I/O. A failed I/O board can raise diagnostics that appear to come from the controller.

TMR core isolation. With the machine still voting on two of <R>, <S> and <T>, identify the affected core and its true fault before ordering a replacement.
The H2AF Suffix and What It Changes
Reading the number: IS215 is the Mark VI special assembly, UCVE the controller type and generation, H2A the hardware variant, and the trailing "F" of H2AF the revision. Revisions within the H2A variant are progressive and generally intended to interchange, but the safest replacement matches the full suffix on your existing label. Keep in mind that UCVE is one of several UCVx generations (UCVB, UCVD, UCVE, UCVG) and that H-series and M-series UCVE cards differ in Ethernet and Profibus support.
