The pack lives on an RTD terminal board of the TRTD family, not in a central rack. Power arrives on a three-pin connector; analog signals cross a 37-pin connector from the terminal board; and two RJ45 ports link the pack to the IONet. Excitation return path: a high-resistance joint anywhere in the three-wire run changes what the pack sees. The two-way cable resistance should stay at or below roughly 15 ohms.

Sensor condition: RTD elements fail open or drift with age and thermal cycling; a second sensor at the same point is the quickest sanity check.

Grounding and terminal board: confirm whether the RTD is grounded or ungrounded and inspect the TRTD terminals; both affect the reading.

Power and network: if the whole pack is missing or resetting, look at the three-pin power feed and the IONet cabling before condemning it.
The multiplexed excitation is a helpful diagnostic detail: the pack samples one channel at a time, so a single wrong reading amid seven correct ones almost always means that one loop, not the shared electronics.
