Every EX2100 exciter needs to exchange hardwired status and command contacts with the plant — generator breaker position, lockout status, trip commands, annunciation. LED follows the contact → the board's sensing works; look downstream at cabling and the EMIO path. LED dead with good wetting and a proven field contact → the board is a legitimate suspect.

Suspect output relay: confirm the external voltage on the Form-C terminals (typically customer 125 V dc) and confirm the EMIO is issuing the command. Only then does a non-responding relay point at the ECTB itself.

Trip circuit questions: the two trip outputs drive parallel contact paths to the lockout. In redundant systems the 2-out-of-3 voting means one bad driver channel should neither trip the unit nor block a legitimate trip — if you saw a spurious lockout operation, widen the investigation beyond this board.

Intermittents: reseat the J405/J408/J415 D-subs and inspect TB1/TB2 for loose or heat-discolored terminations; terminal boards live in high-vibration environments and connector issues mimic board failures.
