The mating pack or VME card. If a whole group of inputs drops at once, or the toolbox flags a card/pack fault, suspect the PDIA pack (Mark VIe) or the VCRC/VCCC processor (Mark VI) and its cable rather than the terminal board.

The excitation and power feed. Loss of the contact excitation supply makes every point read the same — verify the DC feed before assuming the board failed.

The connector. A partially seated or damaged JR1/JS1/JT1 plug, or a bent pin, can mimic a board failure. Inspect the plug and its keying before replacement.
Replace the terminal board when you have visible damage — cracked barrier blocks, burnt traces, corrosion on the silver terminals, or heat marks around the noise-suppression components — or when the board fails an isolated point-by-point check against a known-good pack.
