What the DS200PCCAG10A Is
This is the Power Connect Card from the G10 group of the GE DS200PCCA family, responsible for converting the firing command from the control electronics into gate pulses for the thyristor (SCR) bridge of a DC power converter tied to the turbine train — typically the generator's static exciter. Worth remembering: this board doesn't live in the Mark V's R/S/T/P logic rack alongside TCQA/TCQC/TCEA; it sits in the power cabinet of the converter itself.
Signs That Look Like a Burned-Out PCCA — But Aren't
Before finalizing the purchase of this board, it's worth ruling out other causes of the same symptom:
-
Faulty thyristors (SCRs) in the bridge itself — an open or shorted SCR behaves, from an operational standpoint, almost like a burned-out PCCA.
-
Cables and connectors in the firing path between the board and the bridge — a corroded contact or a broken cable interrupts the gate pulse without the board itself being at fault.
-
Fuses in the power assembly — blown fuses in the firing circuit or the auxiliary supply mimic the behavior of a dead board.
-
Jumper configuration on the replacement board — a new PCCA set up for the wrong voltage range will fail just as quickly as the old one.
Configurable Jumpers
The PCCA uses jumpers labeled JP1, JP2, WP3, and WP4: the first two select the DC armature voltage range for the application, the last two configure how the snubber and the voltage-feedback channel connect to the bridge. Before energizing the new board, compare the physical position of these jumpers against the board being removed.
The G10 Group Within the PCCA Family
Specialized suppliers classify the G10 group as a non-regenerative variant, with leg fuses instead of line fuses — a third-party characterization we haven't independently confirmed against a GE manual. What is safe to say: the groups within the PCCA family (G1 through G10 in the listings we've found) are not a single product under different names, but versions with real electrical differences between them.
