The IS220UCSAH1A standalone controller, explained
Described on its label as a standalone Speedtronic processor, the IS220UCSAH1A is the Mark VIe controller that hosts and runs a turbine or balance-of-plant application on its own, without needing a separate rack processor. This unit is offered used, cleaned and tested, with a one-year warranty. It is a compact panel-mounted computer that executes the control logic and drives GE's distributed I/O packs across the IONet network.
Standalone controller versus I/O pack
It helps to be clear about what this module is and is not. An I/O pack such as a PTUR, PAIC or PDIA sits on a terminal board and handles field wiring for a specific function. The UCSA controller does none of that directly; instead it runs the application program, reads and writes the I/O packs over IONet, and exchanges data with the operator and engineering stations. The controller runs the QNX real-time operating system on a Freescale MPC8349 PowerQUICC II Pro processor (667 MHz); published specifications also list 256 MB of DDR SDRAM and compact-flash storage for the application. It is fanless and suitable for Class I, Division 2 areas, and it is not IEC 61508 safety-certified.
Is the controller actually failed? Checks that come first

Confirm it is not the network: an offline controller at the HMI is very often an IONet or plant-network cable, switch or port. Verify the path before touching the module.

Check compact flash and versions: a bad CF card or a ControlST or firmware mismatch can prevent boot or online status on otherwise-good hardware.

Verify control power: use the DC LED and a meter; a sagging supply behaves like a dead controller.

Localize the symptom: missing points point to an I/O pack or IONet branch; a real controller fault stops the whole application.

Reading the IS220UCSAH1A part number
IS220UCSA is the controller type, H1A is the hardware group, and any trailing letter on your label is the hardware revision. IONet, the HMI highway and the packs it drives
The controller's faceplate carries six Ethernet jack connectors and a USB port. The Ethernet ports connect the private IONet down to the I/O packs and the plant network up to HMI, operator and engineering stations and to companion controls such as Mark VI, Mark VIe and EX2100 excitation.
