IS220PDIAH1A: Contact Input Pack, New Surplus Factory Package
Some listings describe the IS220PDIAH1A generically as a "discrete I/O module," but PDIA specifically handles inputs — contact (discrete) inputs, not outputs. The output equivalent in this same Mark VIe I/O pack family is PDOA, and PDIO is the pack that combines both functions on a single terminal board. This unit ships new surplus, factory packaged, unused.
As an input pack, PDIA reads up to 24 contact inputs — limit switches, pressure switches, valve position indicators, trip signals, pushbuttons — plus terminal-board feedback, and reports them digitally to the <R>, <S>, or <T> controller over the I/O Ethernet network (IONet) through dual RJ-45 ports. It mounts directly on a discrete input terminal board via a single DC-37 pin connector; a processor board common to all Mark VIe I/O packs pairs with an acquisition board built for the contact-input function. Depending on the terminal board fitted (TBCIH1, H2, or H3), the pack supports three different input voltage levels, plus a path for the isolated, voltage-sensing TICI board. Each input is individually opto-isolated, filtered, and has its own status LED; optical isolation is rated to 1500 V and the operating range is -40 to +70°C. Compatible terminal boards are TBCI, TICI, and STCI — not the DIN-rail DTCI board.
Before You Order, Diagnose the Actual Fault
- Since initial signal conditioning happens on the terminal board, a bad input reading is often a field contact, wetting-voltage, or wiring issue on the TBCI/TICI board rather than the pack.
- The swap test is the most reliable check: install the suspect pack on a known-good terminal board, or a known-good pack on the suspect board, and see which one the fault follows.
- Distinguish Process Alarms (a bad field value) from Diagnostic Alarms (a hardware or IONet communications fault) — the fix is different for each.
- Check IONet cabling, connectors, and switch health — corrosion, a bad bend radius, or an aging switch can produce symptoms that look exactly like a failing pack.
- Heat, dust, and humidity are commonly cited as the leading cause of Mark VIe I/O pack failures in the field — worth ruling out before assuming any one pack is simply defective.
Reading IS220PDIAH1A
IS220 marks a Mark VIe distributed I/O pack, PDIA the contact input function specifically, H1 the design generation, and A the hardware revision. Confirm the full string against your terminal board and ControlST project. Our GE Speedtronic Part Number Decoder explains how GE structures the rest of the number.
Related Packs and Terminal Boards
PDIA pairs with TBCI/TICI/STCI-family terminal boards. If your panel needs discrete outputs, or combined input and output on one board, see the related PDOA and PDIO packs. Our GE Mark VI IS200 Boards collection covers compatible terminal boards.
