IS220PAICH2B Analog I/O Pack: Specifications and Fit

The IS220PAICH2B is the Mark VIe (and Mark VIeS) analog I/O pack in its H2 configuration — 12 channels per terminal board, made up of 10 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. The first eight inputs are configurable to 1-5 V dc, ±5 V dc, ±10 V dc, or 0-20 mA; the last two accept 0-20 mA or ±1 mA. A 16-bit A/D converter handles input conversion and a 14-bit D/A converter (0.5% accuracy) handles the outputs, at a normal scan time of 5 ms (200 Hz) — note that the controller's own frame rate typically runs at 100 Hz, so the pack is rarely the limiting factor. Output 1 supports the H2-specific 0-200 mA range in addition to the standard 0-20 mA on output 2, and output loading is rated at 800 Ω for the 4-20 mA range and 50 Ω for the 200 mA range.

Physically, the pack draws 5.3 W typical (6.2 W worst case) from a 28 V dc supply carried on a 3-pin connector, operates from -30 to 65°C, and connects to its terminal board through a single DC-37 pin connector that carries the 24 input signals plus ID, relay coil power, and feedback multiplex commands. Dual RJ-45 ports (ENET1/ENET2) link the pack to the <R>, <S>, or <T> controller over IONet; standard practice on dual-connected systems is to run ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller. The H1B/H2B generation uses a BPPC processor board, which needs ControlST V04.03 or later for full support.

Before You Buy: Check the Terminal Board and Wiring First

• The load terminal resistors for the current-loop inputs live on the terminal board, not the pack — a resistor out of tolerance produces the same bad reading as a failed channel on the PAIC.
• Confirm the terminal board revision: this pack is strictly compatible with the TBAIH1C (or STAI) terminal board revision. An earlier board revision triggers a system compatibility report rather than working silently — that's a configuration mismatch, not damage, and no hardware is harmed by the mismatch itself.
• Run the swap test before ordering a replacement: install the suspect pack on a known-good terminal board (or a known-good pack on the suspect board) and see which one the fault follows.
• Check both ENET1 and ENET2 links, cable condition, and switch health before assuming the pack itself is unresponsive — IONet issues and pack failures look identical from the control room.
• A suicide-relay or output-stage alarm on either analog output does point at the pack's acquisition board, and that's the case where replacing the pack is the right move.
