IS220PAICH1B Analog I/O Module — New Surplus, Factory Packaged

This unit ships as new surplus factory package (NSFP) — unused inventory still in GE's original packaging. "Analog Input/Output Module" and "PAIC pack" describe the same hardware; GE's own Speedtronic documentation calls it the analog I/O pack for the Mark VIe (and Mark VIeS) distributed control system. It runs on a 24-28 V dc supply and mounts directly on an analog input terminal board through a single DC-37 pin connector, rather than sitting in a card cage.

H1B is the second hardware generation of this pack: it uses a BPPC processor board in place of the BPPB board found on the original H1A, is functionally compatible with it, but needs ControlST V04.03 or later for full support, and runs on a lower minimum supply voltage than the H1A did. On the signal side nothing changes: 10 analog inputs (eight switchable among 5 V, 10 V, or 4-20 mA current loop; two more switchable between ±1 mA and 4-20 mA) and 2 current-loop outputs at 0-20 mA, converted through a 16-bit A/D converter and 14-bit D/A converter at a normal 5 ms (200 Hz) scan rate. Dual RJ-45 ports link the pack to the <R>, <S>, or <T> controller over IONet.

Before You Assume the Pack Needs Replacing

• The current-loop load resistors are mounted on the terminal board, not the pack — check them and the field wiring before condemning an input channel.
• Use the swap test: install the suspect pack on a known-good terminal board (or a known-good pack on the suspect board). The fault follows whichever part is actually bad.
• Confirm IONet health first — both Ethernet ports, cabling, and the switch — since a network fault and a pack fault can look identical from the control room.
• Match the terminal board revision to what an H1B pack expects; a mismatch reports as a compatibility alarm rather than a hardware defect.
• A suicide-relay alarm on an output channel is one of the few symptoms that reliably traces back to the pack's own acquisition board rather than the field side.

IS220 = Mark VIe distributed I/O pack, PAIC = analog I/O function, H1 = base two-output design, B = the BPPC-based hardware revision described above. None of these letters are interchangeable with a different pack's letters — an H1B needs a ControlST project and terminal board revision that support it.
