The M-Series Controller's Role
The UCVE is the standard Mark VI main controller; the M-series UCVEM adds support for additional Ethernet ports and Profibus on top of that base capability, including a toolbox-configured secondary Ethernet port on a separate subnet for EGD and Ethernet Modbus. In service the controller exchanges I/O data across the VME backplane through the VCMI communication board and synchronizes to the VCMI clock. In simplex the data is the plant's process I/O; in TMR, the <R>, <S> and <T> controllers work on voted inputs and hand computed outputs to the output hardware for voting.

- Confirm communication with the VCMI across the VME backplane before returning the core to service.
- In TMR, verify the replaced core rejoins the vote cleanly with <R>, <S> and <T> in agreement.
Skipping the validation step is the usual reason a perfectly good replacement first appears to fault.
Matching Generation, Variant and Revision
Read the number as IS215 (Mark VI special assembly), UCVE (controller type and generation), M09 (M-series variant) and the trailing "C" (revision).
