Ordering by "EACF" Alone Isn't Enough — the G-Class Has to Match
IS200EACFG2A is the G2 version of GE's Exciter AC Feedback board, built for a nominal 1000 Vrms three-phase input on the EX2100 excitation control system. GE also builds this same board family as G1 (roughly 480 Vrms) and G3 (roughly 1300 Vrms) for different exciter voltage classes. These are not revisions of one interchangeable part — they're built around different input voltage ranges, and installing the wrong class isn't a subtle mismatch, it's the wrong board for that exciter. Confirm the G-class on your existing board's label before ordering a replacement.
What This Board Does
EACF measures the exciter's three-phase AC supply voltage and current and reports it back to the EX2100 regulator, which relies on that feedback to keep generator field excitation stable. Voltage is stepped down through onboard potential transformers to a nominal 1.6 V rms signal; current is sensed through flux/air-core coils and filtered against high-frequency noise. The processed signals are fanned out to three DB9 connectors feeding the M1, M2, and C controllers in the EX2100's redundant architecture, and the board's connection back to the EBKP backplane can run up to 90 meters.
An Excitation Board, Not a Turbine-Control Board
EACF uses the same IS200 numbering scheme as Mark VI turbine-control boards, which is why it's often filed under generic "Mark VI" listings. It isn't part of the turbine's own control rack — it's mounted in the EX2100 exciter auxiliary cabinet and does one job: feeding accurate AC measurements back to the excitation regulator.
Before You Assume the Board Has Failed
- Check PT fuses and field wiring ahead of the board — a blown fuse produces the same symptom as a failed feedback channel.
- Check each of the three DB9 cables to the M1, M2, and C controllers individually; a fault isolated to one controller's path often means a bad cable or connector on that run, not the board.
- On cable runs approaching the 90-meter limit to the EBKP backplane, inspect the cable and connectors before condemning the board.
- Double-check the previously installed board was actually the correct G-class for this exciter — a wrong-class board might never have worked correctly in the first place.
