IS220PTURH1A / IS220PTURH1AF: primary turbine protection I/O pack for the Mark VIe
The IS220PTURH1A is the Primary Turbine (PTUR) I/O pack in the GE Speedtronic Mark VIe distributed control system. It is the turbine-specific pack that converts raw field signals into the speed and protection data the controller acts on: passive magnetic speed pickups, generator and bus voltage for automatic synchronizing, and the outputs that help close the main generator breaker. GE builds it as a sealed black module with air-circulation slots, front-panel status LEDs and an infrared port, and it seats on its terminal board through a single DC-62 pin connector. Where the pack lives in the control
Inside the housing are three boards: the common Mark VIe processor board shared by every distributed I/O pack, a turbine-control-specific board, and an analog acquisition daughterboard. The processor board carries two independent 10/100 Ethernet ports, RAM, flash memory, an electronic ID chip, an on-board temperature sensor and a reset/watchdog circuit. Those two Ethernet ports are the pack's IONet link to the Mark VIe controller. In a simplex system one pack runs with one or two network connections; in a TMR system three packs, one each on the <R>, <S> and <T> cores, each take a single IONet connection and their speed and protection signals are voted. The pack normally mounts on the TTURH1C turbine terminal board (it also pairs with the STUR board, and up to three PTURs can alternatively plug onto a TRPAH1A board for primary-trip duty).
Diagnose the fault before you order a PTUR
The turbine-protection pack is one of the parts most often swapped out unnecessarily, because the symptoms it produces usually begin in the field wiring, the terminal board or the network, not in the pack. Rule out the cheap, external causes first:

Speed reads zero or jumps: the PTUR reads four passive magnetic speed pickups, and its circuit is sensitive enough to see roughly 2 RPM of turning-gear rotation. If one channel drops out while the others stay healthy, suspect the magnetic pickup, its air gap or the cable, not the pack. If all three cores lose the same channel at once, that points even harder at the sensor or wiring, because three packs rarely fail identically.

Pack will not come online: check the two IONet Ethernet cables, the network switch and the controller before condemning the pack. A dark Link/Act LED is far more often a cable, port or switch problem than a dead pack.

Terminal board and connector: reseat the DC-62 connector and inspect the terminal block for loose screws, corrosion or moisture. Bent pins and damp terminals imitate a failed pack.

Synchronizing trouble: a failure to sync or close often lives in the generator and bus PT wiring, the permissive sync relays and the 52G breaker coil that the TTUR board manages, rather than in the PTUR.

Power feed: confirm the pack is receiving its control power. It has a soft-start current limiter, so a brown-out or a marginal feed can leave it only partly alive.
Read the pack's diagnostics in ToolboxST before you buy. A single-channel fault or a voted-difference alarm tells a very different story than a pack that is completely offline, and it often clears the pack of blame entirely.
Reading the part number and the H1AF revision
The base IS220PTUR identifies the primary turbine I/O function. H1A is the hardware form and group; the trailing letter, the F in IS220PTURH1AF, is the incremental hardware revision of that group.
