IS220PDIOH1A REV. H: One Pack, Two Jobs

This unit ships Open Box — factory packaged, but without its outer shipping carton — and carries a 1-year warranty. PDIO is GE's Speedtronic Mark VIe pack that combines discrete input and discrete output on a single assembly: functionally, it is the equivalent of a PDIA contact-input pack and a PDOA relay-output pack built into one unit. It provides the electrical interface between one or two I/O Ethernet network (IONet) connections and a discrete input/output terminal board, as documented in GE's GEH-6721 Mark VIe Control System Guide.

The pack accepts up to 24 contact inputs and controls up to 12 relay outputs, plus terminal-board-specific feedback signals; the terminal board attached determines its voltage capability. System connection to the <R>, <S>, or <T> controller runs through dual RJ-45 Ethernet ports and a three-pin power input, while the discrete signals themselves pass through a DC-62 connector wired directly to the terminal board. A processor board common to every Mark VIe I/O pack (high-speed processor, dual auto-negotiating 10/100 Ethernet ports, watchdog timer, electronic ID, infrared diagnostic port) pairs with an acquisition board built specifically for the combined input/output function.

For Simplex applications, one PDIO mounts on a TDBS terminal board — the equivalent of an SRLY relay terminal board and an STCI contact input terminal board combined. For TMR, three PDIO packs (one per <R>/<S>/<T>) mount on a TDBT terminal board, which with the WROB option provides the equivalent of a TRLYH1B relay board and a TBCI contact input board combined. The terminal board carries the actual field wiring; the pack itself does the processing and conversion.

Diagnose Before You Assume the Pack Is Bad

• Each of the 24 contact inputs has its own comparator, opto-isolation, filtering, and a yellow status LED; each of the 12 relay outputs has its own open-collector output stage with a current monitor and status LED. A single bad channel is often a field-wiring or terminal-board problem, since the terminal board does the first stage of signal conditioning before the pack ever sees the signal.
• If a relay output is commanded on but its status LED stays off and the monitor line reads false, that specifically means the pack isn't sensing the expected load — check the field wiring and the load itself before condemning the pack.
• Field reports on this pack type describe units that failed online, alarmed, and showed no clear indication on the pack itself. On TMR systems, replacing one of three packs requires the system to resynchronize, which can take several minutes; rushing to rebuild and download application code during that window has caused unrelated trips in documented cases. Give it time before assuming the replacement itself is faulty.
• Confirm which terminal board is actually installed — IS200TDBSH2A or IS200TDBTH2A for standard-duty applications on the H1A generation — before ordering, since the pack's part number alone doesn't tell you the terminal board's field voltage rating.
• Rule out heat and dust in the control cabinet; I/O packs stacked in vertical columns without forced air circulation run hottest at the top and are a widely cited cause of failures across this product family.
