IS220PDIAH1B, Open Box — Factory Packaged Contact Input Pack
This IS220PDIAH1B arrives factory packaged but without its outer shipping box (open box), and carries a 1-year warranty like the rest of our stock. PDIA is GE's Speedtronic Mark VIe pack for discrete contact inputs, and one detail that's easy to miss is that it isn't a one-size-fits-all input card: it accepts three different input voltage levels depending on which terminal board is fitted — TBCIH1, TBCIH2, or TBCIH3 — and has a separate connection path for the isolated, voltage-sensing TICI terminal board. Compatible boards are TBCI, TICI, and STCI; the DIN-rail mounted DTCI board is not supported.
The pack itself mounts directly on its terminal board via a single DC-37 pin connector and talks to the <R>, <S>, or <T> controller over IONet through dual RJ-45 ports, reading up to 24 contact inputs plus terminal-board feedback. Each input has its own comparator, opto-isolated supply, filtering, hysteresis, and status LED; optical isolation is rated to 1500 V and the hardware filter runs at 4 ms. GE documents the pack in the GEH-6721 Mark VIe Control System Guide, and it supports Simplex, Dual, and TMR configurations — one, two, or three packs respectively, each with its own IONet connection(s).
Before You Install: Confirm the Fault Isn't Upstream
- A "bad input" alarm is frequently a field contact problem, a wetting-voltage issue, or miswiring on the TBCI/TICI terminal board — not the pack, since the terminal board does the first stage of signal conditioning before the pack ever sees the signal.
- Documented field cases on this pack type show that intermittent communication faults can persist through pack, cable, and switch replacements and still trace back to the terminal board — the swap test (suspect pack onto a known-good board, or vice versa) is the fastest way to find out which side is actually bad.
- Check IONet cable ends and connectors for corrosion, and confirm cable bend radius is within spec.
- Rule out environmental stress — heat, dust, and humidity are commonly cited as the biggest driver of Mark VIe I/O pack failures, and packs mounted in vertical columns run hottest at the top.
- Distinguish a Process Alarm (bad field value) from a Diagnostic Alarm (hardware/comms fault) before deciding what to replace.
