The VME Card That Reads Your Thermocouples
Every exhaust, bearing, and wheelspace temperature your Mark VI shows an operator was digitized somewhere — and for thermocouples, that somewhere is the VTCC. The IS200VTCCH1B is GE's Thermocouple Processor Board for the Speedtronic Mark VI: a card that lives in the VME processor rack and accepts 24 thermocouple inputs of type E, J, K, S, or T. The thermocouples themselves land on two terminal blocks of the TBTC terminal board out in the panel; cables with molded, latching connectors bring those signals from the TBTC to the lower J3 and J4 connectors on the VME rack, where this card reads them.
The VTCC does real signal processing, not just conversion. Per GE's documentation it performs software linearization for each thermocouple type, applies cold junction compensation using reference devices associated with each cable connector, and — usefully for troubleshooting — removes any thermocouple that drifts outside hardware limits from the scan so one failed sensor cannot corrupt neighboring channels. The TBTC side is available in simplex and TMR versions, so the same card architecture serves single-channel and triple-redundant systems; in TMR builds the terminal board fans the same inputs to the <R>, <S>, and <T> sections.
Sensor, Cable, or Card? Prove It Before You Buy
Thermocouple complaints have a well-earned hierarchy of suspects, and the card is at the bottom of it:

One bad channel: almost always the thermocouple or its extension wiring. Check polarity and measure loop resistance at the TBTC terminal block — the documented limit is 450 ohms two-way, with runs permitted up to 300 m (984 ft) from the cabinet.

A block of channels bad together: the 24 inputs reach the card through two cables (J3 and J4). If the dead channels group by connector, reseat and inspect that cable and its latching connector before anything else.

All 24 channels gone: now the card, its seating in the rack, or the rack itself is in play. Check the three front-panel LEDs — run (green), fail (red), and status (orange) — before pulling hardware.

Every reading offset by a similar amount: that pattern points at cold junction compensation rather than 24 simultaneously failed sensors. Documentation notes a one-degree error in cold junction reading produces a one-degree error in the reported temperature.

In TMR systems: compare the same input across <R>, <S>, and <T>. Since the TMR terminal board feeds all three sections from the same sensors, the section that disagrees is the one whose card or cable deserves attention.

Read it as IS200 (board series) + VTCC (the thermocouple processor function; the leading V is the giveaway that this is a VME rack card rather than a T-prefix terminal board) + H1 (hardware group) + B (functional revision), with the final BB tracking the manufactured revision on the label. The H1 group covers thermocouple types E, J, K, S, and T; GE documented a separate H2 group for types B, N, and R and for extended millivolt ranges. This card never works alone: it is the VME-side reader for the TBTC thermocouple terminal board, and documentation also lists the DTTC DIN-rail thermocouple board as a compatible input source.
