IS200STAIH2A at a Glance
The IS200STAIH2A is a Simplex Analog Input (STAI) terminal board from GE's Mark VIe distributed I/O family. It is the field-wiring side of an analog input node: a compact, DIN-rail-mountable board that terminates 10 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs, and hands them to a PAIC Analog I/O pack that communicates with the controller over Ethernet. Every channel bad at once almost always means the pack, its power feed, or its Ethernet link — not the terminal board. Check the PAIC's status LEDs and network connectivity first.

The current-loop burden resistor sits on the terminal board, so a single channel that stays dead after you have proven the transmitter — ideally by landing it on a spare channel — is fair evidence against the STAI.

A "hardware incompatibility" diagnostic means the pack read the board's ID chip and found a mismatch with its configuration — wrong board group or revision for what the system expects. That is a configuration or matching problem, not necessarily a failed board.

Noisy or drifting readings point to wiring practice: shielded twisted pair (18 AWG is typical), the shield landed on the board's shield terminal, and total two-way lead resistance within the documented 15-ohm limit.

The STAI carries a single pack connection, which is exactly why GE labels it simplex: there is no way to attach the three redundant packs that a TMR I/O node requires. In protection-critical loops where Mark VIe runs triple-redundant I/O across the <R>, <S>, and <T> channels, the TBAI terminal board architecture is used instead.
