The DS200TCPS in the Mark V Power Architecture
This DS200TCPSG1AHC is the DC input power supply from the GE Speedtronic Mark V, the card that powers a single control or I/O core. It takes in the panel's 125 VDC bus and regulates it into the rails the core electronics run on: the +5 VDC logic supply, adjusted at the board with a potentiometer, together with the analog and servo rails commonly documented as ±15 VDC and ±24 VDC. Because it is the power source for a whole core, its condition affects everything that core does.
The board is DC-fed — the reason "DC Input" appears in its name. Its 125 VDC is provided by the TCPD power-distribution board in the <PD> core, and it will not operate on AC, so an AC-only site must add a <DACA> converter to create the 125 VDC. The Mark V uses one supply per core, giving a TMR panel independent boards in <R>, <S> and <T> plus the <C> and I/O cores, so redundancy is preserved at the power level as well as the processing level.
Diagnose the Supply, Not Just the Board
Before you replace a TCPS, make sure you are looking at a board fault and not one of the faults that impersonate it. The Mark V gives you several ways to confirm that cheaply:
- Check the 125 VDC input at the board first. A tripped source, a lost <DACA> output, or an AC-only feed without a converter will make a healthy board look dead.
- Measure the rails at the silkscreened test points with a recently calibrated meter, or read them from the DIAGC display. An out-of-calibration meter has caused technicians to mis-adjust the +5 VDC rail and produce intermittent faults that mimic a failing supply.
- If several cores report the same rail low at once, look for a grounded device on the shared 24 VDC bus before you assume that multiple supplies failed together.
The TCPS does fail on its own — it runs warm and can grow noisy with age, and it is one of the boards that gets replaced over a Mark V's life. But verifying the input and the shared bus first means the money goes toward the board that is actually the problem.
