A New DS200PCCAG1A, Still in Factory Packaging
Unlike a reconditioned board, this DS200PCCAG1ACB arrives in original factory packaging (new surplus) — useful when the outage can't afford to depend on the test-and-clean turnaround time of a used board. It fills the role of a Power Connect Card (PCCA): the interface between the firing command from the control electronics and the thyristor (SCR) bridge of a power converter — typically the generator's static exciter or a DC drive on the turbine train.
Where It Lives (and Where It Doesn't)
A common mistake is looking for the PCCA in the Mark V's R/S/T/P logic cores, alongside TCQA, TCQC, or TCEA. It isn't there. The PCCA is a power board, housed in the converter/drive's own cabinet, physically separate from the control rack.
Before You Install: What "Compatible" Actually Means
Technical documentation associates the G1 group with Mark V Style C and G frames, with a separate bus transformer. Before installing the new board:
- Compare the new board's label against the one being removed — even within the G1 group, different revisions (AA, AB, DB, CB...) can have layout changes.
- Check the four configurable jumpers (JP1, JP2, WP3, WP4) before energizing — they ship from the factory in a standard position, which may not be the position your specific application needs.
- If the original fault isn't clear, rule out the SCRs, firing cables, and the assembly's power supply first — all of these produce symptoms similar to a burned-out PCCA.
Electrical Function of the Board
The PCCA converts the firing command into gate pulses for the SCR bridge, typically via pulse transformers. On low- and medium-power converters, it also carries the snubber circuits that limit voltage spikes on the DC bus, the AC lines, and the gate drivers.
Reading the Part Number
DS200PCCAG1A is the base (DS200 family, PCCA function, G1 group); DS200PCCAG1ACB is the full revision printed on the label. Always use the complete code when requesting a quote — we've seen requests that search by the base number alone end up missing compatible stock available under a different revision.
