Thirteen Connectors, Zero LEDs
The DS200PCCAG1ABB has a detail that tends to surprise anyone opening the cabinet for the first time: there's no indicator LED on the board. From the 5PL connector — which links the PCCA to the power supply board — to the other twelve plug connectors, which carry the forward/reverse gate pulse signals to the SCR bridge, every indication of operation comes from the Mark V system or neighboring boards, never from the PCCA itself. In practice, this means you won't "see" the board fail; you'll see the power converter stop firing correctly.
Where This Board Actually Lives
The PCCA is not an I/O board in the Mark V's logic rack (the R/S/T/P cores where TCQA, TCQC, and TCEA live). It sits inside the power converter — usually the generator's static exciter or a DC drive on the train — interfacing between the firing command and the thyristor bridge.
Diagnose Before You Buy
Since there's no diagnostic LED on the board itself, the investigation has to come from outside it:
- Measure continuity and insulation on the cabling of the twelve plug connectors before assuming the board is dead — a corroded connector or a broken cable produces the same firing-failure symptom.
- Verify the 5PL connector is receiving correct power from the power supply board; without that supply, the PCCA won't fire even if it's in perfect condition.
- Confirm the position of jumpers JP1, JP2, WP3, and WP4 against the board being removed — they set the armature voltage range and the snubber/feedback configuration, and a poorly configured new board reproduces the original fault.
- Inspect the thyristors in the SCR bridge itself — a shorted SCR is commonly mistaken for a PCCA failure.
The G1 Group: What We Know and What We Don't Claim
The DS200PCCAG1ABB is the "ABB" revision of the G1 group within the PCCA family. Specialized suppliers associate the G1 group with a regenerative version of the board; we haven't independently confirmed this point against a GE manual, so we treat it as external reference. What the label does guarantee is the exact physical revision — that's what should guide the purchase, not assumptions about what the group number implies electrically.
