What the TCQC does
The TCQC is the analog overflow board of the GE Speedtronic Mark V. The name says it: where a turbine has more analog channels than the main TCQA analog I/O card can carry, the TCQC picks up the overflow.
It also sits at the head of the protection daisy-chain. The chain runs TCQC → TCE1 → TCE2 → TCE3 → TCDA, where TCE1/2/3 are the TCEA boards (commonly designated TCEA-X, TCEA-Y and TCEA-Z). Signals from the TCQC also reach the CTBA terminal board across the IONET.
Why its position in the chain matters
Because the TCQC is upstream of the TCEA boards, a TCQC fault can present as a TCEA fault. This is one of the more expensive misdiagnoses available on a Mark V panel, because TCEA boards sit in the protection path and people replace them urgently. Before you condemn a TCEA, check the TCQC feeding it.
The reverse logic applies too: if you have replaced a TCEA and the fault persists, you probably have not found it yet.
Not every Mark V has one
The TCQC exists because of channel count. A panel with a modest analog load may not carry one at all. If you are working from a parts list rather than from the panel itself, confirm the board is physically present before ordering a replacement for it — we have seen orders placed for boards that were never fitted.
DS200TCQCG1A or DS200TCQCG1ADB?
Both describe this board. DS200TCQCG1A is the base number: DS200 for the Mark V family, TCQC for the function, G1 for the group-one style with the normal grade of protective PCB coating. DS200TCQCG1ADB carries the revision tail. Search both forms.
This unit
New surplus in original factory packaging, with a 1-year warranty — an uncommon condition for an out-of-production Mark V card, and worth noting if this board sits anywhere near your protection path.
