2. Field loop integrity. Probe gap, extension cable, connector corrosion, termination screws. The card is the last element in the chain, not the first.

3. Jumper audit. Any recent sensor work on inputs 1–3? Confirm the jumper positions match the sensor type actually connected before blaming hardware.

4. Power and seating. OK LED dark? Reseat the card and inspect the ribbon cables from the core's TCPS supply — a documented Mark V case saw cards vanish from the I/O status list because one power ribbon was loose, and the durable fix was a new TCPS, not new I/O cards.

5. EPROM condition. Socketed firmware chips develop pin corrosion with age; intermittent configuration or diagnostic errors sometimes end with a careful reseat. And if a previous board swap skipped the EPROM transfer, the symptoms are immediate and total.
