How the Mark V Powers Each Core
The DS200TCPS takes the panel's 125 VDC bus and turns it into the regulated low-voltage rails a Mark V core runs on. That includes the +5 VDC logic supply — adjustable at the board with a set potentiometer — along with the analog, RTD and servo-drive rails, commonly documented as ±15 VDC and ±24 VDC. Every processor, analog channel and servo output in the core draws from this one board, which is why a marginal TCPS can produce symptoms all over a core.
GE fits one TCPS per core. On a TMR machine that means a separate supply in each of <R>, <S> and <T>, with more in the <C> and I/O cores, so that no single supply failure can take down more than its own core. The board's input is DC — its 125 VDC comes from the TCPD power-distribution board in the <PD> core — and it will not run on AC; an AC-only installation needs a <DACA> converter to generate the 125 VDC.
Measure Before You Replace
The single best defense against buying the wrong board is to measure carefully first — and to trust the measurement only if the tools are right. Several classic TCPS "faults" turn out to be measurement or input problems, not board problems.
- Take the rail voltages at the board's silkscreened test points with a recently calibrated meter, or read them off the DIAGC display for the core. An uncalibrated meter has led technicians to mis-trim the +5 VDC rail and manufacture an intermittent fault that imitates a failing supply.
- Confirm the 125 VDC input is present before anything else. A missing feed — tripped source, lost <DACA> output, AC with no converter — looks exactly like a dead board.
- If several cores show low or lost rails at once, a ground on the shared 24 VDC bus is far more likely than three supplies failing together; find the grounded device before condemning any board.
The TCPS is a real wear item — it runs warm and can become audibly noisy with age — so board failures do happen. The point is simply to confirm it with a good measurement and a verified input before spending on a replacement.
