DS200TCDAH1BGD: Digital I/O for the Mark V Control Core
This is an H1-group TCDA card – the Digital I/O board used throughout GE's Speedtronic Mark V turbine control system. Like every TCDA, its job is to connect the panel's control logic to field contact inputs (switches, limit contacts, permissives) and to relay outputs driving contactors, solenoids, and annunciator circuits. Which terminal is an input and which is an output is a matter of software configuration, not card wiring.
The TCDA is installed in one of the Mark V's control processor cores: <R>, <S>, or <T> in a TMR panel, or the single core in a Simplex panel. TCDA cards also show up as part of the documented card complement in the <C> communication core on many Mark V systems. It shares its rack with a companion relay board (typically called TCRA) and with I/O cards such as TCQA, TCQE, and TCEA, all wired together on the panel's IONET.
Diagnose Before You Buy
Before ordering a replacement, it's worth confirming the TCDA is actually at fault. Documented Mark V field cases show that classic TCDA symptoms – continuous cycling through I/O status states, or repeated "card lost, reconfiguring" alarms – are frequently caused by something else in the loop:

Termination resistors reversed between TCDA and TCEA. The IONET should loop through every TCEA card and terminate only at the TCDA. A termination jumper left IN on a TCEA (when it should be OUT) produces the same fault as a bad TCDA.

A weak or noisy TCPS power supply feeding the core, rather than the TCDA card itself.

Voltage transients on the control bus – from a battery charger, or from de-energizing unsuppressed DC coils near the cabinet.

An unresolved firmware/PROM revision. Certain IONET communication issues have been resolved by GE through PROM upgrades rather than hardware replacement.
- Loose card seating or a corroded connector pin.
The TCDA and its relay-output companion, TCRA, are worth separating in your troubleshooting: TCRA's relays are electromechanical and wear with switching cycles, while the TCDA's logic is solid-state. If the actual symptom is a relay that won't energize, look at TCRA first. There's no fixed retirement age for a TCDA card – many run eight-plus years without issue, and general experience with Mark V boards puts mean time between failures in the low hundreds of thousands of hours, with heat, humidity, dust, and voltage transients in the cabinet driving most real failures rather than age alone.
What H1BGD Means
DS200 is the Mark V-era series prefix, TCDA is the Digital I/O functional acronym, H1 is this board's product grouping, and BGD encodes the functional and artwork revision levels specific to this unit. H1 is a separate hardware grouping from G1 under the same TCDA acronym – the two are not automatically interchangeable, even though they perform the same overall function in the panel. If your system was built around a G1 TCDA, don't substitute an H1 board (or vice versa) without checking your Mark V documentation first; and within either group, always match the full suffix, not just the base part number.
