A Protection Board, Not a Control Board
The DS200TCEAG1B is part of the Speedtronic Mark V's <P> protective core, physically separate from the <R>, <S>, and <T> control cores. Three TCEA boards operate together in this core, identified as the <X>, <Y>, and <Z> processors (also called the "protective processor"), carrying high and low shaft speed signals, flame detection, and auto-synchronizing. Because it deals with overspeed protection, this is one of the highest safety-responsibility boards in the entire panel.
How It Fits Into the Protection System
The signals received by each TCEA are conditioned and written via IONET to the STCA board on the <R1> core. The <R1>'s I/O engine performs median selection among the three values coming from <X>, <Y>, and <Z>, and the result travels over the Corebus to the Control Engine. When a trip condition is identified, the TCEA sends the signal to the Turbine Trip Board (TCTG), which applies voting among the three relays before actually tripping the unit. We won't go into setpoints, internal trip logic, or overspeed test procedures here — that's the territory of the GE manual applicable to your exact revision and your plant's official procedure.
Before Replacing the Board: What the Field Community Has Already Documented
Mark V engineers report, on a specialized technical forum, cases where replacing the TCEA alone didn't resolve a status failure — the real cause was somewhere else:

Berg jumpers in the wrong position. These set both the board's identity (which of the three <X>/<Y>/<Z> positions it occupies) and safety settings that must be identical across all three boards. Before energizing a new TCEA, copy the exact jumper position from the board being removed.

PROMs not transferred correctly. The replacement board arrives with empty PROM sockets; the modules from the old board need to be moved carefully (anti-static wrist strap, without bending pins) so the processor runs the same instruction set.

TCPS fuses (the core's power supply, usually in position 5) not checked before assuming the board is dead.

Flat cables with corrosion or poor contact at the pins — use the correct amount of conductive grease when reconnecting.
Any adjustment or test related to the overspeed setpoint must strictly follow the GE documentation applicable to your revision and your plant's official procedure — don't improvise based on third-party comments.
G1A and G1B Aren't Always Interchangeable
Field engineers confirm a real difference between generations: the TCEAG1B is configurable through the <I> interface using the IO Configurator; the TCEAG1A doesn't have that capability and requires manual configuration via Berg jumpers. Swapping a G1A for a G1B (or vice versa) may require updating configuration files on the <I> that might not exist on your system — and in that case, it may be necessary to replace all three boards on the <P> core together, not just one.
